Honest Food Talks is celebrating the launch of its News & Media service by giving subscribers a free dining experience at a mysterious restaurant. The media site will be providing free editorial service to restauranteurs, chefs & entrepreneurs.

Digital media start-up, Honest Food Talks, will be celebrating the launch of its news and media service by giving three lucky subscribers a traditional Japanese dining experience at a mysterious restaurant in Japan. The digital media company will also be providing a free editorial service to restauranteurs, chefs and entrepreneurs who would like to promote products and services on the new online portal until Summer 2020.
In a space where most news and media sites covering the food and beverage industry will focus on promoting well known, high end restaurants which often comes at a high cost to restauranteurs, the digital media company has opted to stay true to its roots and readers.
Anna A., Head of Marketing at Honest Food Talks, says: “We want to give back to our online community with our News & Media service launch because Honest Food Talks was created by foodies for foodies.
Our information portal is a concept founded in 2018 upon discovering the lack of a central portal for in-depth English reviews of local restaurants in Hokkaido, Japan. This is also prevalent across several regions of Asia including Taipei, Beijing and Kuala Lumpur. Here, we found that the English language directory and reviews of local restaurants were inadequate or bias towards large, international food franchises.
It is our motto to talk truthfully about food.”
The digital media start-up started as a hobby between the founding partners of the company. However, over the past year, the company has developed the online portal with three aims; to increase coverage of local hidden gems, provide frank reviews and source the most authentic recipes.
So far, the online portal has covered stories from hidden gems such as Rishiri Ramen Miraku to giving small food stall owners like Chantel Yeung of Chubby Dumpling a voice in the ever-growing, competitive food and beverage industry.
When asked about the launch, Anna said “We’re really excited about the new website launch and we’re hoping more people will be able discover their new favourite spot through our website and growing social media channels. It should go great unless people don’t like eating and drinking!
Honest Food Talks has always thrived on the idea of standing out and filling a niche in the news and media space. It’s all part of the fun which we think is better than businesses who choose to do things the ‘regular’ way.”
