HLQ Induction Equipment Co., Ltd. (https://dw-inductionheater.com ), a China-based induction aluminum melting furnace manufacturer, has perfected a new way to melt metals – such as aluminum, brass and copper – and do it in a way that offers many advantages over traditional open-flame methods. At a recent press conference held at the company headquarter at Guangzhou, China, the owners explained how the new method innovated by them works.

“By using the cutting-edge technology called induction heating, HLQ Induction Equipment can streamline the process greatly by applying the most-advanced electric components and techniques. An aluminum melting furnace with induction heats the metal by electromagnetic induction. It generates eddy currents (also known as Foucault currents) within the metal, which produces resistance that leads to high-temperature heating”, said Ca Li from HLQ Induction Equipment Co., Ltd.

“An induction brass melting furnace or copper melting furnace utilizes a form of non-contact heating by which alternating current flows in the induced coil, setting up a varying electromagnetic field. The heat is produced as the eddy current flows against the resistivity of the material. Metals can be heated quickly and partially. Induction heating can also penetrate non-metals to heat metals until the metals fuse – without contacting with metals directly”, he went on to add.

According to the executive, the technology can also be applied to induction post-weld heat treatment machines, induction pipeline coating machines and pipeline PWHT stress relieving equipment. He informed the press that the major advantages of induction heating are improved process speed and consistent heating, and maintained that it is cleaner and safer than fossil fuels.

“With induction heating, product warping, distortion and rejection rates are minimized. Parts can be isolated in an enclosed chamber with a vacuum, reducing atmospheric conditions to eliminate oxidation. Production rates can be maximized because heat is developed directly and instantly. Temperature of more than 2,000º F can be reached in less than one second. The process can be started instantaneously, with no warm-up or cool-down cycle required. The induction heating process can be completed on the manufacturing floor, next to the cold- or hot-forming machine, instead of sending batches of parts to a remote furnace area or a subcontractor. For example, a brazing or soldering process which previously required a time-consuming, off-line batch-heating approach can now be replaced with a continuous, one-piece flow manufacturing system”, the executive was quoted by the local press.

While open-flame, torch-heating and other methods can produce inconsistent temperatures, the modern solid state systems used with HLQ Induction Equipment Co., Ltd. induction heating provide precise temperature controls and uniform heat. Once the system is properly calibrated and set up, there is no guesswork or variation; the heating pattern is remarkably consistent. Since induction heating does not use fossil fuels, it is a clean, non-polluting process, according to the owners. As per the owners of HLQ Induction Equipment Co., Ltd., induction heating is an extremely efficient process that converts up to 90 percent of the required energy into useful heat; batch furnaces are generally only 45 percent efficient. Since induction requires no warm-up or cool-down cycle, stand-by heat losses are greatly minimized.

Chicago prosecutor recuses herself from Jussie Smollett case

Feb 20, 2019

CHICAGO — Chicago's top prosecutor recused herself from the investigation into the attack reported by "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett shortly after police requested another interview with the actor. The office of Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx offered few specifics Tuesday when announcing that Foxx was recusing herself from the case, which police said had "shifted" after detectives released two Nigerian brothers who were initially deemed suspects. "Out of an abundance of caution, the decision to recuse herself was made to address potential questions of impartiality based upon familiarity with potential witnesses in the case," said Foxx spokeswoman Tandra Simonton,...

Egypt executes 9 over 2015 assassination of top prosecutor

Feb 20, 2019

CAIRO — Egypt on Wednesday executed nine suspected Muslim Brotherhood members convicted of involvement in the 2015 assassination of the country's top prosecutor, security officials said. The nine were found guilty of taking part in the bombing that killed Hisham Barakat, the first assassination of a senior official in Egypt in a quarter century. Barakat was also the most senior official killed since the military overthrew an elected but divisive Islamist president in 2013. The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief media, said the families of the men were told to pick...

Britain urges Germany to ease curbs on arms sales to Saudi

Feb 20, 2019

BERLIN — Britain's top diplomat has urged Germany to relax its ban on arms sales to Saudi Arabia because they are affecting U.K. sales of weapons to — and by extension its influence with — the oil-rich kingdom. The German weekly Der Spiegel reported Wednesday that British Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt sent a blistering letter to his counterpart in Berlin earlier this month, warning that Germany's credibility as a partner is at stake over its restrictions on arms exports to the Gulf nation. Germany rescinded existing arms export permits to Saudi Arabia last year in response to the killing of...

Kim or Trump? Hanoi barber offers leaders' hairdos for free

Feb 20, 2019

HANOI, Vietnam — At a barbershop tucked away in a Hanoi alley, Le Phuc Hai patiently waits for the dye to turn his black hair the orange shade of President Donald Trump's locks. On a chair next to him, 9-year-old To Gia Huy emerges as the spitting image of a miniature Kim Jong Un. "Many people say that I look like Kim Jong Un, especially when I have this hairstyle," said Huy, who is nicknamed "Un" for his likeness to the North Korean leader. He was unable to hide his excitement that Kim is coming to the Vietnamese capital next...
